Completed in April 2022 with BAM Construction UK, Stone Lodge is the first non-selective school for the Endeavour MAT Trust and will house 1,450 pupils and 250 sixth-form places by 2025. Our design approach has created an inspiring and high-quality learning environment that reflects the School’s ‘Endeavour Mindset’. Developed through close collaboration during the initial stages of client engagement, the new building supports modern, flexible teaching methods and provides pupils with the tools and motivation to achieve their full potential.
The teaching and sports blocks border the north and east of the site boundary, anticipating the future large-scale residential development planned for the adjacent site. The school sports centre integrates into the neighbouring ‘sports hub’ where various club venues are located, including Bowls, Rugby and Judo, which have easy access from a public path. This site composition also integrates three sports pitches across the site and a multi-use game court on the grounds, key elements of our competition-awarded scheme design.
Classrooms on the teaching block ‘wings’ enhance student comfort with full-aspect windows overlooking the central south-facing courtyard and abundant green space. Efficient space planning enables the simultaneous passive supervision of students, both internally and externally. The sixth form centre, LRC and creative subjects such as Food Technology, Music and Art feature framed views toward The Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, under two miles from the site, achieving the inspirational learning setting desired by the school in the early stages of the client engagement process.
Designed to exceed standard Department for Education Output Specifications and the school-specific brief, the building is future-ready, allowing for curriculum development and adaptation. A strong emphasis on energy efficiency, inclusivity, and occupant well-being underpins the positive educational experience offered at Stone Lodge.
“We thank you, the KSS team for all your dedication, professionalism and hard work in designing such a great building. Our journey with KSS from initial design, through the construction period, has been a pleasurable and rewarding experience, where we felt supported at every stage”
