KSS has played an integral role in the evolution of London Stadium since 2008, providing architectural advisory, feasibility, planning and technical design services across a series of major venue transformation and enhancement projects.
Originally supporting the stadium's transition from its London 2012 Olympic legacy configuration, KSS contributed to the development of the retractable seating system that enables the venue to accommodate football, athletics and major entertainment events within a single adaptable stadium. This flexible approach has helped establish London Stadium as one of the most versatile multi-use venues in the world.
Working closely with LS185, the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC), UK Athletics and Major League Baseball (MLB), KSS has provided ongoing support for the planning, design and delivery of a wide range of sporting and entertainment overlays. This has included accommodation strategies for athletics championships and events, concert configurations for international touring acts, and the development of field layouts, seating strategies and operational overlays for the MLB London Series. Through these commissions, KSS has helped optimise venue operations while maintaining spectator experience and event functionality across multiple event formats.
More recently, KSS has supported LS185 and LLDC on a range of venue enhancement initiatives aimed at improving the spectator experience and maximising the stadium's long-term operational potential. This has included the design and reconfiguration of the lower bowl, introducing new lower-tier seating behind the goals and within the West Stand to improve sightlines, atmosphere and fan engagement.
KSS has also provided architectural and technical support for planning and operational studies associated with increasing the number of events hosted at the venue each year, helping to enhance London Stadium's flexibility, utilisation and commercial performance. Through this long-standing relationship, KSS continues to support the ongoing evolution of London Stadium as a leading international destination for sport, entertainment and major events.
